R. David Lankes is the Virginia & Charles Bowden Professor of Librarianship at the University of Texas at Austin's School of Information, USA. His books include The Atlas of New Librarianship (2011), winner of the ABC-CLIO/Greenwood Award for Best Book in Library Literature; The New Librarianship Field Guide (2016); and Forged in War: How a Century of War Created Today's Information Society (Rowman & Littlefield, 2021). He received the 2021 Isadore Gilbert Mudge Award for distinguished contribution to reference librarianship.
