Biography

Denis MacShane first used the word ‘Brexit’ in 2012 and predicted the referendum outcome in 2014 with his book Brexit: How Britain Left Europe (2015). He served as an MP for eighteen years and was Minister of Europe under Tony Blair and then UK delegate to the Council of Europe. Before being elected Labour MP for Rotherham in 1994, he worked for fifteen years as an international trade union official in Europe.
