H. David Stone is the author of Vital Rails: The Charleston & Savannah Railroad and the Civil War in Coastal South Carolina. A lifelong golfer with a passion for history, Dr. Stone is a board member of South Carolina Humanities and holds memberships in the Carolinas Golf Association, the United States Golf Association, and the South Carolina Historical Society. Dr. Stone writes feature articles on golf’s storied past for his blog, Persimmons & Blades, for his local newspaper, and for the Society of Golf Historians’ newsletter. He resides in Florence, South Carolina.
